Interested in transforming your space with Cali Bamboo products?Lets get started by scheduling a consultation with one of our flooring specialists. @Shannon H Yes the North Shore Oak was the best weve found as far as not being destructive but I dont have recent samples of it. We've had ours down now for almost 18 months. And weve only ever used approved cleaning tools and solutions. When we go upstairs we have to avoid touching the floors with our clothes to try to keep them from being ruined (pretty hard to do with a three year old). Anyone have experience to share or information regarding Triumph LVP? We only have 3 patterns (sometimes with a 4th), because they screwed up at the time of our order (which is why they eventually refunded us). Oh lordy I feel like we'll be riding piggy back on the poor installers when we go through this again (and hopefully the final time). Gives you purpose? This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged. The aim of the journal is to publish original papers on all branches of Geotechnical Engineering. We never slip on the Cali floor even in socks. We stayed at our neighbors new house last Jun for one month. It also doesnt have the annoying hard-to-look-clean, smudgy issue the super matte floors do. I would get a couple of great before and after pictures of your child's clothing before and after playing on the floor, your socks before and after walking on the floor for 2 hours . Plus we have no idea how long we will be waiting and we have no idea if the "update" will actually make the product better/easier to install without compromising the durability (we honestly already found it a bit less durable in our dent tests compared to SPC but were willing to accept that small difference to have something that didn't tear up our clothes.) It would feel like settling at this point (especially to my husband who hates the repeats) but I just dont want to have to start over! The last issue of 2021 features a lecture by Prof. Arumugam S. So needless to say, we are also not fond of Cali Bamboo. Ill inquire more with our local retailer. If it's "peaking" at the seams that is a different issue and likely caused by improper installation. We have a section of our website dedicated to luxury vinyl flooring, also known as resilient, where you can learn the fundamentals and look at different styles. The Coretec floors are still installed upstairs because they hadnt been ripped up yet when the installers figured out there was a problem with Cali Bamboo. They are scratched all over. It looks realistic, is a great color, and we haven't had any issues with abrasiveness. Were desperate to find a replacement that isnt going to repeat any of these problems weve experienced! So we haven't actually gotten the sample box shipped yet because we are requesting that it come from the same lot number as our whole order when that becomes available. Just my 2 cents , I understand your point, but, again, not asking for standards to be ignored or for floors to be slippery and dangerous. @rtpaige03 Agree. The journal has the rights for first publication. That actually makes me really nervous because we just ordered a bunch for our stairs and another room and install starts this week. I don't know if there were earlier studies that prompted change, but I don't see the manufacturers backing down if the result is that they can be sued for millions of dollars if someone slips and falls when walking on their floor when it is wet. I haven't had that problem. The flooring company worked with Coretec (Shaw) to bring out an independent inspector to investigate and the problem was so obvious that we had a response within the same day that the floor was defective (a process we were told that usually takes weeks). All urethanes are not the same, nor are all acrylics or any other coating. Hence the slip and fall defense. We don't often walk around in our bare feet (admittedly the rigid core is indeed rigid) so I can't talk about foot sweat marks. Thanks in advance! We had luck with one older Armstrong sample but then they updated it and then it had the new destructive finish to too. Click here to access all instructions and submission page. But he also got holes when we had tiles and engineered hardwood. I would keep looking for other options but weve tried sooooo many at this point. laminate is smooth and non destructive, engineered hardwood is smooth and non destructive, and yes even tile with the bathroom rated texture is not near as destructive as this lvp that the author of this thread and so many of us are talking about. If after a year and a half since this post started and three years since your flooring debacle started and you havent found an LVP that satisfies you, why not go with something else entirely? We were hoping we could just avoid the acrylic since thats what Coretec uses but it doesnt seem to be the material thats the culprit, it seems to be the finish I guess but that doesnt really explain it totally either!? The journals policy of screening for plagiarism includes the use of a plagiarism checker on all submitted manuscripts. Or wear slippers. Lol I hadnt even seen those comments. Who knows if the one were waiting on will switch over to the destructive finish in that time frame too (please oh please no though!). https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-10-29/america-s-slip-and-fall-king-wants-to-save-you-from-a-workplace-wipeout. The manufacturers were essentially put on notice. So I guess what Im looking for here is 1) Were seeking an understanding of why some LVP has the haze problem people complain about and why some LVP has the clothes shredding problem weve had and at least one LVP (Cali) doesnt. We notcied it looked hazier than the sample we saw in store but just thought it was due to dust or something from boxing it, it never went away after install and cleaning. Before purchasing, I contacted the company to find out how many different patterns there were, and while I don't remember anymore, it was much more than I was expecting. I believer it was the floor. Their surface is not as abrasive as what you & others experienced but for sure it roughed my feet. BTW, I didn't get to the end of your very, very long post, but only read the first 1.5 paragraphs. Thank you for those 2 cents! Also cant explain it away by blaming it on embossing/texture because the Coretec floor we have doesnt have really bumpy ridges (and feels pretty smooth to the touch though you can definitely tell its not a slick/glossy finish just by the feel). The new issue 44(3) presents articles by invited speakers at the PanAM Unsat 2021 held in July 2021 in Rio de Janeiro. We installed Armstrong Empower SPC Scandia Midsummer Sun. I'm loving the matte finish. Since neither of these issues seem to be able to be explained away by a difference in what the top layer is made of or whether or not there is pronounced texture/embossing we dont know how to avoid it and are understandably terrified of going through another round of flooring fail! Its been over a year since then and Cali Bamboo recently said they fixed the repeat issue. In keeping with design trends, plank sizes can range in size some as wide and long as 8 by 72 and we also offer hexagonal tiles. I get so many compliments on that floor. The issue includes Articles, Case Studies and Review Articles. I came across a flooring contractors association. I hear you and I understand your frustration and your belief that the smoother finishes were fine, but this is what you and the manufacturers are up against. @Mary Elizabeth We actually have a box of it in our garage. They can't. Have you tried any of the Supercore products? I dont see an increase the amount of holes. i am also worried they might change the flooring. Im not in the least expecting that anything Im saying is actually going to change the industry (and again, even if I could change it all by some miracle Id only be asking them to change to non destructive levels of non slip, which as far as iI can tell would be just slightly less matte with embossing/texture still present.). The downside for that one is we have to either find an installer or diy (not actually an option) and we wouldnt have anyone to go to bat for us if something did go wrong. Even some samples that arent super duper matte are doing it. Browse through the most extensive collection of porcelain tile, stone, hardwood, LVT/LVP, carpet and more in Pensacola. I didn't have any problem with dye lots in the one year lapse between doing the living and dining room. We were worried the finish would change to be more matte (destructive and hard to clean) like everything else in that time. I would have never considered that the matte finish would be destructive and it's just something we're going to have to live with if it is an issue. The vinyl manufacturers probably didnt know how abrasive their product was, but once it became an issue, they needed an out from this liability. The license allows for commercial use. There is another piece to the story that were terrified of repeating. All Rights Reserved. In July of 2019, we used a local flooring company to install almost 2000 sq ft of Coretec Berlin Pine. They refunded our money with the assurance they would have the pattern repeat issue fixed and new planks would be in stock in about 6 months. We want to add more lvp in other rooms but will wait to hear from others that can give us advice . But the results are a quality floor with perfect interlocking. Does anyone have any clue as to what on earth is causing this fabric damaging property on the floors that are doing it??!! It is absolutely not true that the floor has to be matte to the point of being destructive in order to be safely non-slip. I do recommend getting a box from the same lot number as what would be available for you to order from so you can test that specific lot! @Amanda It took us this long to find this out about the Shaw floor we were waiting on (Prodigy Elite Golden Age). However, studies that investigate its Ktia Vanessa Bicalho, Janaina Silva Hastenreiter Kster, Lucas Broseghini Totola, Letcia Garcia Crevelin Cristello, Fernando Schnaid; Luiz Guilherme F.S. This just sounds like an excuse for an unintended consequence. Did you go through a retailer that can handle that process for you? Thank you so much for your reply! We have been living on it about 3 weeks and a week in we realized our kids had holes in their pants and in our socks, we couldnt believe our floor may be the culprit. The house was finished early in the year and they moved in in April. Sorry to hear about it at all! I sure wish they had a better pattern repeat solution and their customer service was better so we could just go with them because at least we know their floors wont tear up our clothes and we can clean the floors just fine without the haze. PS, we have small children and a really destructive puppy and no scratches, dents etc. @surrendertoflow yes- I love the North Shore color too, gorgeous! So we're honestly not even sure what to do about all of that. ps the lifeproof brand that my friend boight was not glue down it eas click lock, but again, limited in colors and a "cheaper" brand , so we went with rigid core Coretec in our gamily room - beautiful but shredding our socks. This is a new problem in LVP (in the last couple of years) and some are worse than others. Theyve definitely gone too far unnecessarily with the matte effect. :) Hope that helps! Unfortunately, as expected, the newest North Shore Oak sample we got shreds just like any other new LVP samples we got. So the installers hastily laid down what we had from them at the time with everyone expecting a new floor fairly shortly (which didnt happen). Engineered wood, laminate, there are a multitude of options. Our latest vinyl collection, called Floort, is waterproof, and we have a Houzz Ideabook dedicated to this collection. I absolutely love it. I dont need no stinking permits. We found out they didnt really (just took the same 4 exact patterns and reversed them) and when we questioned how that didnt line up with what they said before theyve gone silent and basically arent answering anything else. I am curious if you ended up ordering it and if you have any pictures to share. This is especially true with homeowners doing their own installation without doing proper research or without being properly informed of the installation process by the supplier of the flooring.
